Discount management

Discount management provides a structured view of how different discount sources contribute to the total discount amount on a sales order line.

Instead of treating this amount as a single value, it breaks it down into separate amounts by source:

  • line discount levels;
  • bonus programs;
  • promotional packages.

The calculated amounts can be used directly for analysis. When discount sources are assigned to categories, their amounts are grouped by category. The resulting category amounts are recorded in the sales order, distributed to the affected lines, and made available for reporting and accounting posting.

Use discount management when you need to:

  • analyze the contribution of each discount source;
  • group the amounts contributed by one or more discount sources under business-defined categories;
  • report or post discount amounts separately by category.

Discount management works with discounts already applied to sales order lines. It does not determine which discounts apply.
